I stand frozen as Sofia circles me like a predator, her dark eyes gleaming with a hatred that makes my blood run cold. The soldiers block every escape route, their weapons trained on me, a stark reminder that I walked straight into their trap.

“Look at you.” Sofia's lips curl into a sneer. “The little waitress who thinks she can play in our world.” Her heels click against the hardwood floor of my apartment, each step making me flinch. “Do you have any idea how long I've waited to get back at the Falchettis? How many nights I've planned this?”

My mouth goes dry. “I don't understand. I haven't done anything to you⁠—”

“Shut up!” She whirls on me, her composure cracking. “My father built an empire from nothing. And what did the Falchettis do? They stole millions from us, piece by piece, deal by deal. Then they had the audacity to kill my cousin Tony at that pathetic diner of yours.”

The memory of that night floods back - the gunshots, the blood, the chaos. “I didn't know he was your cousin. I just saw⁠—”

“You saw exactly what they wanted you to see.” Sofia's voice drips with venom. “And now you're living in their mansion, protected by their precious Enzo like some kind of pet.”

I shake my head, desperate to make her understand. “Please, I'm not part of their world. I'm just a waitress who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't want any part of this feud.”

“You think I care what you want?” She laughs, the sound sharp and cruel. “You became part of this the moment you witnessed Tony's murder. And now?” Her eyes narrow. “Now you're exactly what I need.”

My heart pounds against my ribs. “I won't help you hurt anyone.”

“You already are, just by existing.” Sofia moves closer, her perfume suffocating me. “Enzo's grown soft, protecting you. The mighty Falchetti enforcer, playing bodyguard to a nobody.” Her fingers grip my chin, forcing me to look at her. “Tell me, does he whisper sweet nothings in your ear? Make you feel special?”

I try to pull away, but her grip tightens. “You're wrong about him.”

“No, you're wrong if you think he actually cares. Men like Enzo only understand power and revenge.” She releases me with a sharp push. “And he's going to come running when he realizes his little bird has flown the cage.”

The reality of her words hits me like a physical blow. “You're using me as bait?”

“Finally, she gets it.” Sofia's smile turns predatory. “But it's more than that. The Falchettis took everything from us - our money, our respect, our family. Now?” Her eyes flash with malice. “Now I'm going to watch Enzo suffer before I end him. And you're going to help me do it.”

“I won't⁠—”

“You don't have a choice.” She cuts me off, her voice hard as steel. “You're just a pawn in a game that started long before you stumbled into it. The Falchettis need to pay for what they've done, and Enzo's death will just be the beginning.
